How do I get my electricity to work in my room? I did something wrong. Help!?
  • I don't have a light bulb in my desk lamp, but I was drawing a picture and needed light, so I went into my sister's room and took a light bulb from a lamp she had. It was kind of smaller though but I thought it would fit.

So I tried putting it in, and sure, it was smaller, but it flashed for a second! So I was like, whoa, maybe it will still work.. and I put it in again, and POW, all my lights turned off, for my room, the bathroom, and my 2 sisters rooms.

How do I fix it?! I don't know how bad it is and I had to lie to my mom that I didn't touch anything.

  • replace the switch .

  • Sounds like u tripped a breaker or blew a fuse.1 get the right size bulb for the lamp.2 find the breaker box ( if fuse replace it,if breaker find the one that is tripped and flip it back on) with the right size bulb in the lamp plug the lamp back in,in the event it does it again repeat step 2 and replace lamp.

  • IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU PUT A BULB IN A LAMP. IF U DID, UNPLUG THE LAMP AND RESET THE BREAKER. IF THE BREAKER STAY ON WITH THE CORD UNPLUGGED THEN THE PROBLEM IS IN THE LAMP. WITH THE LAMP UNPLUGGED AND THE BULB REMOVED, LOOK INSIDE THE LAMP SOCKET AND YOU WILL SEE THE DAMAGE THAT WAS CAUSED.

  • This should just be a tripped circuit breaker. Not a big deal.

  • turn it off then on ,and it will stay on

  • You tripped a breaker in the breaker panel. Grey box with a bunch of black switches. Should have clear pieces of plastic in the middle of the switches one will be orangish in color now. Flip that switch left to right and it will reset.

  • Don't worry, you haven't damaged anything. You just tripped the circuit breaker.

A circuit breaker is special kind of switch that turns off the electricity if too much current goes thru it. The bulb you put in was too small to fil the socket, and it probably shorted across the lamp socket.

You need to find the circuit breaker panel. It a panel on the wall, usually in the basement or garage or other out-of-the-way place. They're usually gray, with a small door about 12 inches by 18 inches or so. Open it up and you'll see a couple of rows of switches - usually black. One of the switches will be halfway between the On position and the Off position. It may also have a clear plastic window with a red "tripped" indicator visible. This is the breaker that supplies power to the part of the house that's lost its lights.

Now that you've found the breaker, turn it to the Off position, and then turn it back On. All done!

    Good luck.

  • Take out the bulb, unplug the lamp, go to breaker panel and look for a tripped breaker.

Easiest way to find a tripped breaker is to, with your hand like i knife, pinky side toward breakers, run your hand down breakers and you will feel the tripped breaker.

This will help you not get caught, being that you won't be turning on and off all the breakers.

If you have a fuse box look for the one where behind the glass it is burnt looking and then replace the fuse with a new one
