Is it harder to get gov't student loans for grad school if you own a home?
  • Time Limit: 1 month If I own a home, will that make it more difficult, if not impossible to get the popular government loans? My husband is going to go to law school in about two years, but we are going to purchase a home first. We don't want to, however, if it will prevent us from getting most loans.

  • Theoretically, owning a hoem should help you. Why? Look at the FAFSA form. It does not ask you whether you own a home. And your net asstes is supposed to exclude your home. Supposed you put $30,000 down on a home; it will appear that you have $30k less in assets that you would have if you did not purchase the home. [I am not 100% positivie of this]
