Is the whole Creationism Vs Evolution debate really that important in terms of what it means to be a Christian?
  • Does it really matter where we came from?

Most Christians who believe in evolution STILL believe that God created the universe and humanity, so what's the problem?

Is this really a debate even worth having?

What matters is who Jesus was and is.

    What do you think?

  • Most normal Christians accept evolution, it's just the fundamentalists that feel that it's somehow evil.

  • it depends. but only to humans. would god purposely decieve us by planting dinosaur bones and fudging up the reality of carbon dating? probably not. thing is, people want you to believe in the fact that the "truth of the bible can NOT fail". if that's so, why do mark and luke, authors of the gospel, disagree as to who Jesus' forefathers are? mark says Jesus was descended from solomon, son of david.....luke says Jesus was descended from another of David's sons. who's right? ask the people who put their faith in a book written by what we should consider as wise cavemen.

  • Some say no. I tend to disagree with that . Jesus said if if people did not believe the writings of moses then how can they believe him ? I agree. The bible is not a smorgasbord that you can pick and choose what you like leaving behind what you don't. God's word is Gods word. Also, Their is no indication that the book of Genesis was written in a metaphorical symbolic type language. What it says is what it means.
You either believe all of it or none of it. At least that is my take on things.

  • Is the earth and its history 10,000 years old, that's the issue.

  • What matters most is first that you get saved from all sin and hell, God will increase your faith as you continue from there.

Whisper this prayer to God so that only you can hear yourself pray and say: â œLord Jesus come into my heart right now and forgive me of all my sins and write my name in the lambs book of life right now too so that on judgment day Gods angels will find my name written there and I will not be cast in hell but be allowed to enter heaven and dwell there forever with Jesus Christ, thank You Lord for coming now into my heart and forgiving me of all sin, In Jesus Name, Amen.

  • Any Christian with a brain would not be Creationist, in the bible itself it says that being arrogant and stupid is worse than breaking any of the Ten Commandments.

  • I think it matters tremendously. The reason being is that God created the earth and the Adam and Eve story... right. Well that is why everyone after them is born with Original Sin. So as a Christian you much know that you were born a sinner because of Adam and Eve. Which means you must be baptized to become a child of God. You will have to battle original sin everyday of your life until the end times because of Adam and Eve. You then realize Jesus died for everyones sins which is why you want to repay Him, by living a Christian life.

  • i dont think it is. i think it has to do with what other belive in and we should respect that. Just like how we respect others for sharing different views it makes us not any less human for beliving in something different and i think that applies here people can have different views on what happened and we should respect that because it does not make them any less of a christian

  • breaking it down to fact everyone knows how science "facts" change according to their time period. science used to believe if you traveled at 30mph your car would fly but today we go at over hundreds of miles per hour. in science dont they constantly disprove each other? yet the bible never changes.
also do not forget that every scientific evidence has a degree of error and every scientist would admit to you that. who knows how big the degree of error is. even so isnt it suprising how people quickly will believe science.
(how many theories of atoms have we had and they still do not know what really the atom is like)

  • It matters when people try to teach children to ignore facts and deny science to maintain their faith. That's why the U.S. doesn't allow public schools to teach Christian beliefs except in the context of comparing religions and philosophies. But when people try to push religion into science classes, when people teach our children that it's ok to deny facts, to deny science, THAT'S when it matters.

Basic common sense supports that the world is very old and that similar creatures have common ancestors.

Visible, current examples in nature demonstrate evolution.

    Experiments in labs demonstrate evolution.

The fossil record makes no sense whatsoever UNLESS evolution is true.

    Genetics supports evolution 100%.

Molecular biology proves that the likelihood that humans and chimpanzees have the same ancestor is 10^29 to 1 (that's 10 followed by 29 zeros).

99.9% of scientists agree we evolved from earlier forms, and those that don't agree have strong religious reasons for denying evolution.

These 12,000 Christian clergy, and the Catholic church, accept that evolution is a foundational truth:

So... the fact that we evolved from earlier forms, and that all life on Earth has common ancestry is reality and beyond dispute. Christians or anyone else who denies evolution are no different than people who believe the Earth is flat.

If your faith doesn't agree with reality, it's not reality that needs adjusting.

  • If the Bible is not to be taken literally then how can you really be sure that Jesus is the son of God?

Evolution shows that the bible is wrong/false, not the word of an perfect being.

It's obviously written by men a long time ago who didn't know much about science.

  • completely irrelevant. it's just another divide-and-conquer tactic, designed to keep people seething in conflict and animosity and projecting negativity into the energysphere, and prevent people from concentrating on following the directions that guidance tries to give them with which they can learn how to live good lives. personally, just because it was ALL created, doesn't mean that THIS part of it didn't evolve. and just because THIS part of it may have evolved, doesn't mean that it ALL wasn't created. works for me and i don't need to give it another thought and can enjoy my day and my life just fine, thanks.

  • Why can't (and why WOULDN'T) God create a universe with Evolution as one of it's processes? Doesn't it show God's love for His creations that He would give them the ability to adapt and survive and improve? Isn't Evolution God's gift to us to allow us to become more like Him?
