Watership down movie? But Keehar (sp?) the gull was brilliant. "Beeg Vahter" We had to read the book in school and loved the bits where he swears - we could swear in class and not get told off!!! Result!

The storyline is creepy and so are the characters...It even made me scared of rabbits when i was little Lol
But the song : bright eyes .. still makes me cry sometimes Lol
Although it's a animation, it's a very dark and real subject- politics, social status, freedom, oppression, just that its told through the medium of animated rabbits.
It's a great book.
A great film too.
Having said all that though, children's books/programmes are pretty non-educational now, all fluffy crap without even proper language sometimes !(telletubbies etc) when they used to not only entertain, but teach 'life lessons' etc.
But they used to have a back bone ... and be rather scary. Just look at the Original Fairy Stories; pretty gruesome stuff.
Animation is simply a medium; it's not strictly for children.
In-fact when Disney made Snow White it scared a lot of the adult audiences, and Snow White was one of only two animated films to rank in the American Film Institutes's list of the 100 greatest American films of all time.
Then you have such films as When the Wind Blows and Animal Farm etc...
Animation can sometimes be stronger than your old 16/32mm film as you can realy draw(excuse the pun) your audience in with the right script and soundtrack...
I'll stop babbelling now..!
