Why did they blame Kenseth for the chase system?

I don't think Kenseth ever had that jurisdictionCouple reasons, he was consistent and with only one win made the chase again. As he is not one of the favored sons, there had to be a way to keep him out of the chase, so far no go.The reason they blamed Matt Kenseth for the CHASE rule is because he only won 1 race that year and led the points for 34 of the 36 races. Ryan Newman won 8 races that year and finished 6th in points. Kenseth was consistent, but began to falter toward the end of the year. He won by 90 points over JJ. Report Abuse
Jay is the man on this answer session. Kenseth won the championship in lame un-winner fashion, winning one race all season and borrring his way through 8th place finishes the rest of the year. The Chase crap did cost Jeff Gordon a championship, looks like it will scr*_w Rowdy of one this year.Because he won the championship while winning so few races. They changed the point system solely because of this.Matt Kenseth was very consistent in 2003 when he won the championship, but he only won one race that season. Ryan Newman won eight races that year, but finished sixth in points. That's probably the main reason for the criticism, but the chase was probably made to help the TV ratings and the fact that NEXTEL was just coming in the sport.Read the article. Kenseth won only one race all year, but finished in the top 10 in almost every race. Noone challenged him for the points lead all year. That's a big reason Nascar decide to rearrange the championship race.
